Large Cocaine Rings Broken Up
The state Attorney General's Office has broken up three rings that trafficked in as much as $3.75 million in cocaine in the Erie area over the past year. Attorney General Tom Corbett identified the main defendants as Felipe Cruz and Edward Garcia of Erie and Julio Melendez of Jamestown. Corbett alleges that Cruz, Garcia and Melendez were the main importers of cocaine from New York, Denver, Colorado and Philadelphia. He says they brought as much as eight to 10 kilograms of cocaine a month -- or about $3.75 million -- to the Erie area over the past year.
