Oil City Man to Stand Trial on Escape Charges

An Oil City native will stand trial on charges that he broke out of three law enforcement vehicles earlier this month in an effort to stay out of jail. Titusville police accuse 37-year-old Christopher Stevenson, of breaking out of two city police cruisers as officers attempted to transport him to the Crawford County Correctional Facility after he was arrested on assault and other charges on April 5. State police accuse Stevenson of jumping out of a Crawford County Sheriff’s Department van as he was being taken back to the county jail from his arraignment in Titusville on April 7. Stevenson is in jai on 350 thousand dollars bond.
