Revised Vote Count for PA Primary
Pennsylvania election officials have revised their unofficial vote count for the presidential primary after determining that a clerical error had kept about 26,000 votes out of the state tally. The omitted votes were all from Northampton County in the Lehigh Valley. A Department of State spokeswoman says the problem was traced to a mistaken assumption that all of the county's votes had been recorded.
After the numbers were corrected today, about 21,000 votes were added to the Democratic presidential race and about 5,300 to the Republican presidential race.
Sen. Hillary Clinton picked up 13,287 votes and Sen. Barack Obama 7,678 votes for the Democratic presidential nomination. Final numbers from the April 22 primary will be announced once counties finish tallying the provisional ballots and making other adjustments. The miscount is not expected to change the allocation of presidential convention delegates among the candidates.
