Brittany Steward Sentenced

The 20-year-old woman who was baby-sitting two toddlers when they accidentally drowned near Waterford has been sentenced today to 11 ½ to 23 months in Erie County Prison. Brittany Steward received the sentence immediately after she pleaded guilty today to two counts of the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child. As part of the plea deal, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office dropped two counts of involuntary manslaughter, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in a state prison; and two counts recklessly endangering another person. State police accused Steward in the deaths of her 20-month-old half sister, Jenna Walker, and Jenna’s friend, Maggie Kovski, 2, on May 30, 2007. Prosecutors claim Steward's negligence led to the drownings, based on evidence that she stayed out all night and drank alcohol the night before she knew she had to baby-sit.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
