Snowmobiles Trails to Open Dec. 20

From the USFS:

Warren, Pa. – Snowmobile trails on the Allegheny National Forest will open on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Trail conditions permitting, the snowmobile trail system will remain open through April 1.

According to Deputy District Ranger Jodie Vanselow, “If conditions are favorable, we will consider opening the trails after December 13 (hunting season). Opening prior to this date will not occur due to the potential safety issues and conflicts with hunters.”

Trail conditions are updated as they change on the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) website at http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/snowmobile/allegheny.aspx. The snowmobile toll free Pennsylvania DCNR hotline (1-877-766-6253) updates trail conditions Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In addition, information on grooming activities may also be found on the Allegheny National Forest website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/allegheny/recreation/snowmobile trails/.

We would like to remind riders that helmets are required, as well as a valid state registration from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, to ride on Allegheny National Forest Trails. All riders are required to stay to the right on the trails, and the use of alcohol while riding is strictly prohibited.

Deputy District Ranger Jodie Vanselow would like to remind snowmobilers to ride safely and enjoy the the 224 miles of groomed trails the Allegheny National Forest has to offer.

It's been a fantastic winter so far in PA, and the snow should be great, especially by mid December. Can't wait to get out there to snowmobile ride!

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
