Man Charged for Olean Stabbing

A man who had to be hospitalized after stabbing another man last September in Olean will spend the next six months in jail on a charge of attempted assault.

38-year-old Dana Rickey of Portville stabbed 26-year-old Matt Zawatski twice in the chest and twice in the groin area at about 2:15 a.m. on September 5 in Olean.

Following the incident, Rickey suffered an apparent heart attack at Olean General Hospital and was sent to ECMC.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
