Fires Under Investigation

State police are looking into the cause of a fire that damaged a Williams Street house late Sunday night.

The two-story rental property is owned by Mike Simanowski of Bradford. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

State police say someone broke into a Russell City home and started a fire while the owner was away on vacation.

The fire started at about 7:30 Monday night on Route 66 at the home of Charles Gibson.

Damage is estimated at $85,000.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
