No Grant for Fire Department

Back in March, the Bradford City Fire Department was hoping to get federal grant money to build a new fire station.

They didn't get it.

Earlier this month Assistance to Firefighters Fire Station Construction Grants were awarded to dozens of fire departments across the country, and Bradford wasn't one of them.

The fire department wanted to the new building because they say the current station is beyond renovation.

It's unfortunate that any hiring-practice corruption and individual firefighter cigarette-smoking habits couldn't be speedily addressed and opposed so that a new fire station could be funded so near the oil refinery.

A City of Bradford Volunteer Fire Department could raise the funds to build a brand new station easily by the tax dollars saved. Go volunteers! You don't have to be paid to proudly serve.
