Governor Signs Execution Warrants

Harrisburg – Governor Ed Rendell today signed execution warrants for Richard Scott Baumhammers, 44, and Angel Luis Reyes, 64.

On April 28, 2000, Baumhammers murdered five people during a two-hour hate crime rampage throughout the Pittsburgh region. He specifically targeted victims who were Jewish, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and African-American. He was found guilty of the five first-degree murder charges in May 2001.

Baumhammers is incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Greene.

Reyes was sentenced to death in January 1994 for drowning his 4-year-old daughter, Marcia Reyes in November 1993. He is an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Graterford.

Reyes’ execution by lethal injection is set for Tuesday, March 16. Baumhammers’ is set for Thursday, March 18.

With the warrants signed today, Governor Rendell has now signed 101 execution warrants.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
