Portville Man Sent to Prison

The Portville man who kidnapped a woman last fall has been sentenced to 8 years in state prison.

36-year-old William Phillips was sentenced in Cattaraugus County Court as a repeat felon.

Phillips pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and illegal possession of a weapon for an incident last September outside the Wilson Farms store on South Main Street in Portville.

Phillips is a registered sex offender in New York and has a history of being a violent sex offender.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
