Allegany Man Arrested for Olean Murder

An Allegany man is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old James Williams of Olean early Tuesday morning.

33-year-old Martez Johnson was arrested Tuesday on a parole violation, and was charged Wednesday in connection to the murder. He’s in Cattaraugus County Jail without bail. He’s scheduled to be in Olean City Court August 10.

Williams was found dead in a South Second Street home just before 1 a.m. Tuesday after police received reports of gunshots.

A state police dive team recovered a long gun from the Allegheny River that they believe is the murder weapon.

The man who jumped out a second floor window the morning of the shooting has been identified as Eric Blair of Buffalo. He was visiting Williams at the time of the shooting. Blair is being treated at ECMC for injuries related to the jump.
