Four Years Since Longobardo Died

Today marks 4 years since New York State Trooper Joseph Longbardo died after being shot by Ralph “Bucky” Phillips during the largest manhunt in state history.

Phillips shot Longobardo and Trooper Donald Baker on August 31, 2006, while they were staking out the home of Phillips’ girlfriend in Chautauqua County.

Baker recovered and returned to work. Every year, he also attends a memorial run named for Longobardo in Sarasota Springs. Proceeds from the run go toward a scholarship for a student at Amsterdam High School who plans to study criminal justice in college.

Phillips was captured in Pennsylvania on September 8, 2006, and is serving a life sentence at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York.

I bought Trooper Joe's townhouse in Ballston Spa two years before the incident. I was deeply saddened that the life of such a squared away guy could be ended by a worthless piece of steaming excrement.
RIP Joe, your life of service will not be unrecognized.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
