Convicted Warren Rapist Charged with
Sunday Rape, Kidnapaping Near Erie
A former Warren resident who is a registered sex offender has been charged with raping and kidnapping a woman at knifepoint Sunday night in near Erie.
37-year-old Edmund Gowland robbed a Warren convenience store in 1994, and forced the woman at gunpoint to go to his apartment, where he raped her. He was convicted on November 8 of 1994.
For the alleged incidents that happened Sunday, he’s in Erie County Jail on $50,000 bond. Gowland’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 14.
