Game Commission Officer Fatally Shot

A Pennsylvania Game Commission officer investigating possible nighttime hunting and poaching was shot to death, and police took a man into custody following an 11-hour search.

31-year-old David Grove was shot Thursday night in Freedom Township, southwest of Gettysburg.












27-year-old Christopher Johnson of Fairfield was detained by police this morning. Police didn’t release any further details, but said they are not searching for anyone else. Earlier they said Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous.

The last time a game commission officer was killed in the line of duty was 1915.
