Bradford Hotel Gets New Life as Rookies

One of Bradford's biggest and most visible eyesores is getting new life as a sports bar.

The Bradford Hotel is being renovated and will soon be Rookies Sports Bar.

On Tuesday, Bradford City Council approved a $25,000 loan to the owners from the city's Economic Development Loan Program, and also approved the transfer of a liquor license from Bradford Township to Rookies.

Note: That building is just steps away from low-lying Tun'a Creek waterstream confluence and also city railroad tracks lacking pedestrian protection here in this unique Tun'a Valley northward waterflow area.

The Mayor made it a point at last night's council meeting to say he has no financial interest in this venture whatsoever.

He said he thinks it's a positive thing that these folks have come forward and put a great deal of their money into this project.

Yes Anne it great to see Bill Gibble invest in main street. I remember a current elected offical make the statement " No one in their right mind would invest in downtown Bradford " Mr. Gibble has a good track record as a landlord and I wish him success.

There is a many-feet direct drop from the metal bars at parking area shown in photo to the concrete-edged flood-managed waterstream below, that flows beneath Main Street. Another nearby sports bar at Forman Street bridge/Davis Street plaza has similar streamside metal railing behind premises with direct drop to stony streambed. Neither location is a 'swimming pool' situation.

Another "Historic District" Building SAVED from its certain demolition. Will the H.A.R.B. follow its own policies or existing PA State Historic Preservation Laws concerning the exterior renovations? They seem to do their cause no good by not being tough on property owners changing the "Historic Look & Feel" of many significant features.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
