Report: Marcellus Shale Industry
Growing Faster Than Expected
Investment and production in the Marcellus Shale natural gas field is growing faster than expected, according to a report released today by the Marcellus Shale Coalition.
The report says production increased over four-fold from 300 million cubic feet per day in 2009 to 1.3 billion in 2010, while the number of wells in production increased from 595 in 2009 to 1,055 in 2010.
The report estimates that production this year will be more than two-and-a-half times last year's.
