Man Pleads Guilty After
Keeping Police at Bay for Hours
An Allegany man who barricaded himself in his house after firing a gun has pleaded guilty to a felony count of attempted reckless endangerment.
Back in February, 49-year-old Thomas Gilray held police at bay for several hours. He had been drinking heavily with relatives, who fled the house and called police after Gilray found a pistol.
Police were called at about 8:15 p.m. A state police hostage negotiator got Gilray to surrender at around 2 a.m.
He will be sentenced in Cattaraugus County Court on November 14.
