Man Waives Hearing for Alleged
Assault with Screwdriver

A Bradford man accused of stabbing another man in the eye with a screwdriver waived his preliminary hearing today.

23-year-old Herbert Wheeler is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

At 2:17 a.m. on October 2 police were called to King Street for a reported assault and found the victim bleeding from his eye, according to papers filed in District Judge Dominic Cercone’s office. The victim told police Wheeler kicked open the front door and stabbed him with a flathead screwdriver.

Police found Wheeler in the driveway of another King Street house, passed out in an empty vehicle. They say he was highly intoxicated and had blood on his clothes.

Wheeler is jailed on $100,000 bail.
