Cary R. Kaber
Cary R. Kaber, 76, of 624 Seaward Ave., passed away, Thursday, December 1st, 2011 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born September 30, 1935, in Bradford he was a son of the late David C. and Helen (Allen) Kaber.
On June 16, 1962 in Bradford he married Patricia Kaber who survives.
Mr. Kaber was a 1956 graduate of Bradford High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He had worked at Litton Business Machines, then owned and operated Kaber Electric. In 1994 he was employed by Foster Township Highway Department until his retirement in 1997. He was elected to the Foster Township Board of Supervisors in 1988 and served his birthplace for 12 years.
During his tenure as Supervisor he was instrumental in the development of the Wal*Mart shopping plaza, the construction of the Tuna Crossroads bridge and the clean up of the tire/junkyard on Tuna Crossroads. As Vice Chairman of the Board Supervisors, he served as President of the McKean County Association of the Township Officials and as a committee member of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. He represented Foster Township on the Tuna Valley Council of Governments and served on the Foster Township Planning Commission. Mr. Kaber was a former director of the McKean County Fair Association, he was instrumental in starting the McKean County Fair Raceway and was a leader in 4 H.
Mr. Kaber was a 45 year member of the Bradford Bowling League, a 30-year-plus member of the Zippo Golf League, a member of the former Bradford Moose Lodge, the American Legion, Italian Club, and Eagles Club. He was also a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fisherman's Association and a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club
In addition to his wife of 49 years he is survived by three daughters, Donna J. Kaber and Khristine M. Kaber both of Charlotte, NC, and Rhonda S.(Steven Helgren) Cobb of Bradford, one son, Richard C. "Buck" Kaber of Buffalo, NY, a brother, Jerry Kaber of Ft Lauderdale, FL, three grandchildren; Paul A. Kaber, Brandon P, Kaber and Tesla J. Kaber and two nephews David Kaber and Jason Kaber.
Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main Street where funeral services will be held on Monday December 5th at 11:00am with Rev. Robert Brest, Pastor of the First Free Methodist Church officiating. Committal services and burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
