Sheriff's Deputy Hit by Pickup Truck

A Cattaraugs County Sheriff's deputy was hit by a pickup truck while putting down a deer that had been hit by another vehicle.

Jordan Haines' injuries are serious but not life-threatening. He was treated at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, but has since been released.

The accident happened at about 6 o'clock this evening in East Randolph. Haines was hit by the truck's side view mirror and was spun around.

State police are conducting the investigation and say the pickup driver was cooperative after the accident.

Haines has worked for the sheriff's office for three years, according to a news release sent to WESB and The HERO from the sheriff's office.
