Fatal Crash in Chautauqua County

UPDATE: The man who died is Harry Loomis of Cherry Creek.

An 83-year-old Chautauqua County resident is dead after being thrown from a vehicle during a crash Friday night on Route 5.

The victim’s name has not been released yet.

Sheriff’s deputies say 31-year-old Jason Gage of Buffalo was driving a tractor-trailer in the Town of Pomfret when the victim pulled out in front of him. Gage’s rig hit the victim’s vehicle, which then spun out and landed in a ditch.

The victim was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital, where the person later died. Deputies issued Gage a ticket for having a suspended registration.

The investigation is continuing.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. A Derrick City man is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl. 19-year-old Richie Cromley is charged with statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal solicitation on a computer of a sex act with a child.
