Bonnie Tancar
Bonnie Tancar, 75, of 1095 Summit Rd, Rew, passed away Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 at her residence.
Born April 3, 1936, in Brockway, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Margaret (McKay) Benson.
On April 26, 1959 in Bradford she married Donald A. "Joe" Howard who died August 18, 1975, then on February 14, 1981, she married Michael Tancar who died November 8, 2005.
Mrs. Tancar had worked at Loblaws Grocery Store, as a Toy Lady Demonstrator and later as a school bus driver for the Bradford Area School District for more than 30 years.
She grew up on Patterson Lane and attended Bradford schools. She was mostly known to family and friends for her baking, but most of all she loved her family unconditionally, and they feel fortunate to have had such a mother.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo (Philip) Marinelli of Newbury Park, CA; and Dawne Howard of Garner, NC; two sons Albert Howard of Bradford and Michael (Linda) Howard of Smethport; one step daughter, Theresa (Richard) Pekelnicky of Erie; one step son, John (Dian) Tancar of Lewis Run; a sister, Bernice (Butch) McCune of Marshburg, five grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and two husbands she was preceded in death by one brother Charles L. Benson and one sister Jeanette Patterson.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 20, 2012, from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave., where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 21st, with Rev. Robert Shallenberger officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Southern Siberian Rescue, 121 Marianna Place, Garner , NC 27529 or Rew Volunteer Fire Department, or the American Cancer Society McKean Co. Unit, or the McKean County Special Olympics or Bradford Ecumenical Home 100 St. Francis Drive Bradford, PA 16701.
