Fatal Crash in Elk County

A 23-year-old St. Marys woman is dead following a crash early this morning on Route 255 in the Village of Byrnedale.

Savannah Straub was a passenger in a car that crashed after it went out of control at about 2:50 a.m. and hit a tree, a guide rail and a bridge. She was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver, 24-year-old Brandon Weidow of Byrnedale, suffered moderate injuries and was flown to Altoona General Hospital for treatment.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. A Derrick City man is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl. 19-year-old Richie Cromley is charged with statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal solicitation on a computer of a sex act with a child.
