Glen Hazel Bridge to Open Today
Ridgway – Once new guide rail is installed, PennDOT will re-open the Glen Hazel Bridge late this afternoon, July 13. The bridge is located on Route 1001 (Glen Hazel Road) near the village of Glen Hazel in Elk County.
Rehabilitation work to extend the useful life of the bridge and improve its safety has been on going since late March.
Once the bridge is open to traffic, PennDOT will lift the detour that’s been in place since early April.
Work included deck and beam replacement, abutment repair, new approach slabs, guiderail updates and miscellaneous construction.
L.C. Whitford of Wellsville, New York was the contractor on this $450,000 project. Drivers are reminded to be cautious in all work zones and always buckle up.
