Man Sentenced on Federal Drug Charges
A Cattaraugus County man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for manufacturing marijuana.
51-year-old Dean Maynard of Mansfield, New York, was arrested in September of last year after agents in a US Border Patrol helicopter spotted 211 marijuana plants in a large garden in Mansfield.
During the execution of a search warrant at Maynard’s home, law enforcement officials recovered three rifles, a loaded shotgun, an undetermined amount of processed marijuana, drying marijuana plants in each of the bedrooms, and scales used for weighing and distribution.
Maynard’s son Brandon is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 9 in connection with the same incident.
