Pickup Crashes Near Boat Launch
A pickup truck towing a boat crashed just north of the Webb’s Ferry boat launch entrance Thursday afternoon.
Police say Gary Murphy of New Castle was on Scandia Road when the pickup lost traction on the wet road, dropped off the right shoulder, and hit a group of small trees.
As the truck came to rest the trailer dislodged from the hitch, causing the trailer tongue to go underneath the truck and break the tether to the boat. The boat came off the trailer and ended up in the road.
Murphy suffered moderate injuries and was taken Warren General Hospital. The pickup, trailer and boat all had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
