Zippo® Adds Versatility to
Outdoor Line With Six New Products
SALT LAKE CITY - Today, at the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market show in Salt Lake City, Zippo® unveiled six innovative products designed to enhance the great American pastime of camping.
Engineered and built with durability, performance and reliability in mind, these products address many shortcomings found in traditional outdoor gear.
Setting a new premium standard in the marketplace, the six new additions to Zippo's award-winning Outdoor line are the Windproof Stove, All-Terrain Grill, Utensil Tree, 4-in-1 Woodsman, Campfire Carrier and Rugged Lantern. The products are engineered for everyday use and to withstand the toughest of conditions year round. They're grouped by three camping experiences - fire, cooking and comfort - each of which drive and shape Zippo's strategy for product development.
"As outdoor enthusiasts, we're particularly excited about this launch," said Chris Funk, Zippo Outdoor Brand Manager. "Zippo is located in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains where enjoying the outdoors is a way of life. As consumers, we know first hand how some manufacturers are simply not meeting expectations with the products that are currently on the market. With this in mind, we felt compelled to leverage our rugged and dependable heritage to build a better class of outdoor products. Our Zippo Outdoor line is held to a higher standard so that we can give consumers the ability to enjoy the outdoors rather than worry about whether or not their equipment can handle it."
The following products were showcased at the Zippo booth, PV230, at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market show:
COOKING
WINDPROOF STOVE™
Unlike traditional camp stoves that are at the mercy of wind and are hard to light and keep lit, the Zippo Windproof Stove takes weather out of the equation. Outfitted with a cast aluminum firebox and lid, the Zippo Windproof Stove is a rugged and portable cooking device that has been designed to withstand the toughest weather conditions. Zippo's Windproof Stove relies on dual burners that immediately light without matches and stay lit on the windiest days thanks to Zippo's proprietary 3-2-3 chimney technology. The same windproof protection found in Zippo's pocket lighters, the stainless steel chimney protects the burners from wind, but still lets air through to feed the flame. The result is a strong flame that provides even heat at consistent temperatures.
Moreover, the Zippo Windproof Stove is set apart from the competition thanks to its independent leveling legs and rubber feet, which bring the stove's 270 sq. inch cooking surface up to countertop height and give users the ability to cook on a level surface should they find themselves in uneven terrain. The stove boasts a bubble level for added precision and also provides onboard storage for the legs and quick-release propane valve.
The Zippo Windproof Stove will be available in Spring 2013 for $249.95.
ALL-TERRAIN GRILL™
Ideal for tailgaters and outdoor enthusiasts alike, the Zippo All-Terrain Grill was designed with portability in mind and can travel anywhere, even off-road thanks to its high-axle and rugged rubber coated wheels. Compatible with 1 lb. or 20 lb. propane cylinders, the grill cuts no corners in bringing the ultimate grilling experience to the backyard and tailgate as it's equipped with a cast-aluminum fire box and lid, stainless steel food prep surface and high-efficiency, windproof twin-tube burners. Push-button electronic ignition and continuous flame-control valves help fire up the burners and keep them lit, while a flavor infusion panel and porcelain-coated grate provide 244 sq. inches of grilling perfection.
When it's time to pack up and go, the All-Terrain Grill converts to storage and transport mode with just the push of a button. The scissor designed undercarriage ensures the grill folds with ease for storage while an integrated handle makes it easy to tow wherever it's needed.
The Zippo All-Terrain Grill will be available in Spring 2013 for $299.95.
UTENSIL TREE™
While cooking outdoors offers plenty of space, there never seems to be a convenient place to keep spatulas, forks or other must-haves such as towels, condiments or spices, clean and within arm's reach. That's where the Zippo Utensil Tree comes in. High in convenience, the Utensil Tree features an eight inch tray that rests on top of a powder-coated metal shaft, giving users the ability to keep everything they need at their fingertips but out of the way and up off the ground. The Utensil Tree stands rock solid and can be used while tailgating or in the woods camping using the patio base or two-pronged step bar. The Utensil Tree breaks down for easy transport and includes a carry bag.
The Zippo Utensil Tree will be available in Spring 2013 for $49.95.
FIRE
4-IN-1 WOODSMAN™
One of the most versatile tools to ever hit the campground, the Zippo 4-in-1 Woodsman can handle nearly any job as it can chop, saw, hammer and pull stakes. The Woodsman's chameleon-like functionalities are due in no small part to its ergonomic design. A 15 inch blade, held tight by a locking cam and tension compensator, can saw wood up to four inches in diameter, and when not in use, the blade can be safely stored within the Woodsman's handle. Remove the hatchet safety sheath which doubles as a hand grip for the saw, to reveal a five inch blade that makes chopping wood a breeze. Spin the Woodsman around to leverage the integrated mallet and stake puller to help set up or tear town camp quickly.
The Zippo 4-in-1 Woodsman will be available in Spring 2013 for $79.95.
CAMPFIRE CARRIER™
Gathering wood for the campfire isn't the most glorious job, but Zippo's new Campfire Carrier makes getting it back to the campsite a little easier. Made from tough, ballistic grade nylon, the Campfire Carrier can handle an armload worth of wood, protecting you from scratches, dirt and any unwanted bugs. Simply open up the 22" x 36" Campfire Carrier, place the wood inside and carry away using the ergonomically designed handle. For added convenience, the Campfire Carrier also includes mesh pockets for storing other necessities for getting the campfire going, such as Zippo Cedar Fire Starters and utility lighters.
The Campfire Carrier will be available in Spring 2013 for $24.95.
COMFORT
RUGGED LANTERN™
Campers value LED lights because they don't cause fires or emit terrible odors. However, LED lanterns are inherently delicate and rarely last more than a season. With this in mind, Zippo built its new Rugged Lantern to be the most durable on the market. A metal support cage and rubberized corners cushion the blow from everyday use and thanks to its design, the lantern can survive drops as high as six feet. Waterproof, the Zippo Rugged Lantern can survive the rain and will float if knocked into water. Through it all, the lantern shines with the brightest light of any LED lantern available today and gives users the ability to control the brightness from 100% (high) to 50% (medium) to 10% (low). The Rugged Lantern draws power from a rechargeable lithium ion battery and offers a battery life / runtime of 12-hours, 24-hours or 96-hours at the high, medium or low brightness setting respectively. For added safety and peace of mind, the Rugged Lantern also incorporates a flashing S.O.S. feature should an emergency arise. A flexible pop-up handle lets owners hang or carry the lantern anywhere.
The Zippo Rugged Lantern will be available in Spring 2013 for $74.95.
