Fire Damages Truck Tractor

An electrical fire did about $100,000 worth of damage to a truck tractor this morning on Route 66 in Highland Township, Elk County.

State Police fire marshal Greg Agosti says the truck was stopped in a construction zone at 8:45 a.m. when the fire started in the engine compartment of the truck and quickly spread throughout the cab.

No one was hurt.

The truck was connected to a tank trailer that was loaded with wax, but the trailer only had minimal heat damage and the load was not damaged.

Route 66 was closed for about an hour before being opened to controlled one-lane traffic.
