Tanker Crash Investigation Continuing

Police are continuing to investigate a tanker truck crash Monday that closed part of Route 62 in Chautauqua County for more than 12 hours.

The truck driver, 46-year-old William Fisher of Erie, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to WCA Hospital for treatement.

The accident happened at about 6:30 Monday morning when the United Refining tanker went out of control, traveled off the road and flipped over. None of the 7,000 gallons of fuel in the tanker leaked, but about five gallson of diesel fuel did leak from the truck, but the Chautauqua County HAZMAT team contained that spill.

State police opened the road at about 7 p.m.
