Casey Urges Silver Airlines to Work on
Cancellation Problem at Bradford Airport
“The Essential Air Service program plays a vital economic role for airports throughout the Commonwealth. Keeping the Bradford Regional Airport’s Essential Air Service contract in place goes hand in hand with economic growth,” Senator Casey said. “Recent cancellations have created too much uncertainty for businesses and travelers. I’m hopeful that Silver Airlines will take immediate steps to fix this issue.”

Dear Mr. Richardson:
I write to express my concern with the recent cancellations of Silver Airline flights at Bradford Regional Airport. As you may know, Bradford Regional Airport has seen a decline in enplanements in recent years and these recent flight cancellations are putting the airport in danger of losing their contract for Essential Air Service.
Frequent cancellations not only harm enplanement numbers but force customers to look for travel options elsewhere due to the uncertainty of Silver’s service. Bradford Regional Airport is in the vicinity of many drill sites and the airport is one of the reasons many companies choose to locate in the area. With the continued expansion of the Marcellus Shale industry in western Pennsylvania it is critical for that people employed by the industry have access to this airport. Ensuring Bradford Regional Airport remains eligible for Essential Air Service is vital to the economic development of the region.
I am ready to work with Silver Airlines to do what we can to avoid future cancellations and keep enplanements consistent at Bradford Regional Airport. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me directly or have your staff contact my office. Thank you for your consideration of my concerns.
Sincerely,
Robert P. Casey, Jr.
United States Senator
