Tractor-Trailer Driver Passes Out, Later Dies
A tractor-trailer driver lost consciousness Thursday afternoon and later died at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
66-year-old Leland Johnson was at the intersection of routes 20 and 60 in the Town of Pomfret at just after 2 p.m. when he lost consciousness, causing the rig to travel into the opposite lane and hit an SUV.
Johnson’s wife Janice was riding the in truck and tried to get control of it by steering it off the road, where it hit three cars in a used car lot, then went into an open field and hit a tree.
