K-9 Officer Helps Find Suspect

A K-9 officer in Chautauqua County is getting a workout this week.

Early this morning the dog helped find a man wanted for a probation violation who ran away from a rollover accident.

Deputies say the vehicle rolled over and caught fire at about 1:40 a.m. at Pickard Road and Route 380. Everyone was out of the vehicle when deputies got there but the driver, 24-year-old Christopher Dellahoy of Sinclairville had already fled the scene.

They set up a perimeter and called in the K-9 unit to help. They eventually found Dellahoy in the Town of Stockton, but he resisted arrest so they had to use a Taser on him.

He’s being held in jail on the probation warrant, but is also now charged with resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and traffic violations.

Earlier this week, the K-9 officer found a woman wanted on burglary charges hiding in a ditch in a wooded area.
