Man Jailed After Bath Water Burns Infant

An infant is hospitalized with second degree burns and a Bradford man is in jail following an incident Saturday on Brennan Street.

The child’s father, 21-year-old Harvey Rose, told police he was preparing to give the baby a bath and placed a container of steaming hot water on a table, and the infant next to the container, and then left the room, according to papers filed in District Judge Rich Luther’s office. He said he came back to the room four minutes later and the water had spilled onto the baby.

Rose continued to bathe and dress the baby, and then took the infant to a caregiver to be fed. The caregiver discovered the burns. She and the baby’s mother then took the baby to BRMC. The child was later transferred to Buffalo Children’s Hospital.

Police learned that the baby had a twin and, when they back to Brennan Street to check on the other infant, they found marijuana in the house and marijuana packaged for sale in Rose’s pocket.

Rose is charged with felony counts of Endangering the welfare of children and neglect of care for a dependent person, as well as several drug offenses. He’s jailed on $100,000 bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday.
