Dam Water Being Released
Boaters and anglers on the Allegheny Reservoir are being advised to use extra caution over the next few days because the US Army Corps of Engineers is releasing more water from the Kinzua Dam than usual due to heavy rainfall over the last few days.
Dam resource manager Doug Helman says they need to bring the water level down so there’s enough room in the reservoir when the next heavy rainfall hits.
He said it takes three or four days for the water level in the reservoir to drop so, during that time, boaters and anglers will experience higher water levels.
