Domestic Dispute Lands Man in Jail

A domestic dispute with his girlfriend has landed a Machias man in jail.

46-year-old Lawrence Pope got into the fight with the woman on August 3. When police got to the scene and told him he was going to be arrested for criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment, he told them that he was not going to be arrested, and then resisted while troopers attempted to take him into custody.

In addition to the domestic-related charges, he was also charged with resisting arrest, and was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.

A Derrick City man is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl. 19-year-old Richie Cromley is charged with statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal solicitation on a computer of a sex act with a child. Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
