Several In Court on Drug Charges

Several people appeared in Cattaraugus County Court on drugs charges, including a couple of people already in jail on similar charges.

33-year-old Demario Watkins of Buffalo, who is currently in jail, pleaded guilty to selling a controlled substance on December 19 in Salamanca. 24-year-old Bryant Battle of Olean, who is also in jail, sold a narcotic drug on April 18 in Olean. They are both scheduled for sentencing on January 5.

A heroin dealer has been sentenced to 2 years in state prison. 29-year-old Joseph Vavrecan of Olean sold the drug on February 1 in the Town of Hinsdale.

22-year-old Lawrence Smith of Buffalo will spend 4 months in jail and 5 years on probation for selling drugs on May 9 of last year in Olean.

And, 21-year-old Alexander Carpenter of Allegany has pleaded not guilty to selling drugs in Olean on April 26. His case has been adjourned for motions.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
