Shuttle Schedule Announced for
3rd Annual Bradford Brewfest
The shuttle, provided by JRS Transportation, will begin at 6pm at Java Dave’s parking lot (224 West Washington Street) and take passengers to the 3rd Annual Bradford Brewfest at St. Bernard School (450 West Washington Street). The bus will then return to Java Dave’s and pick up and drop off passengers approximately every twenty minutes until 9pm. The last return shuttle from the Bradford Brewfest to Java Dave’s will depart the school at approximately 9:20pm.
“Parking is always one of the challenges faced when planning an event, especially in the winter,” said Kara Kennedy, Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator. “We found last year that, despite the heavy snowfall, people were still determined to get to the event and had a great time. But our hope is that providing the shuttle will give people a transportation alternative that allows them to relax and focus on enjoying the evening, not worrying about where they will find a parking space. The shuttle will run on a round trip route starting at 6pm, so hopefully no one will have long to wait to be picked up!”
Tickets are still available for the 3rd Annual Bradford Brewfest, scheduled for Saturday evening, February 7th, from 6-9pm at the St. Bernard School, 450 West Washington Street in Bradford. Advance tickets can be purchased for $20 each ($10 for designated drivers) at the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce office, 121 Main Street from 10am to 4pm Thursday and Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door of the event for $25 each. Ticket price includes a pilsner-style souvenir sampling glass, ten craft beer sample tickets, and door prize ticket. Designated Driver tickets include free soda and water.
“Ticket sales have been going well, and we anticipate a great turnout Saturday night, but there should be plenty of tickets available at the door for people who haven’t had a chance to stop in to the office or contact us in advance,” said Ron Orris, Executive Director of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’ve heard from a lot of people who enjoyed this event the past two years and can’t wait to get together again this year to sample the brews provided by Glenwood Beer Distributors, have some great food from our participating restaurants, and enjoy a fun evening.”
Bradford Brewfest, one of the Chamber’s annual fundraising events, is coordinated by the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce and Signature Sponsor Glenwood Beer Distributors, along with support from Bronze Sponsors Northwest Savings Bank and U.S. Energy Development Corporation. The event is designed to offer attendees the chance to sample a wide variety of craft beers, malt beverages, and more, including some new flavors never available before. Mary Ann Colestro, Manager of Glenwood Beer Distributor’s Ridgway warehouse shared, “Glenwood has been so fortunate to be part of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce and to be a partner in this event. Due to its success other communities have begun their own brewfests to benefit their local organizations as well. This event is a great way to blend what we do with a positive cause and help to give back to our community!”
Glenwood Beer Distributors will be offering samples of a variety of brew flavors at several different stations, including more traditional categories like IPAs, ales, ciders, porters/stouts/bocks, and wheat beer, along with a new category of fruit beer, a station for Pennsylvania brews, a variety of malt beverages, and even new flavors of Red Bull – which is new to Glenwood’s product lineup this year. Colestro noted, “Events like these are great for allowing people to sample products they normally may never try. It's surprising every year how many people come in thinking they won't like anything and leave with a new favorite flavor."
Additional features of the 3rd Annual Bradford Brewfest include live music by No Name Trio, a variety of food items for sale by five local restaurants and organizations, door prizes, a Chinese auction with items donated by local businesses, and a 50/50 drawing.
Along with the shuttle, other new additions to the event this year are the “Just Dip It” Contest and a home brew demonstration by How Ya Brewing. Those interested in participating in the “Just Dip It” Contest need to bring a crock pot of their favorite dip, along with a list of all ingredients in case of possible allergies, and register on-site by 6:30pm. The Chamber will provide pretzel sticks and tortilla chips for dipping, and prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice. How Ya Brewing will be on site throughout the event with information about home brewing, details on the “Home Brew Games” home brew competition planned for the 2016 Bradford Brewfest, and a home brew demonstration at the mid-point of the evening for those interested in learning more about this hobby which continues to grow in popularity.
All attendees must be 21 or older, and organizers emphasized the importance that everyone must bring appropriate identification – IDs will be scanned at the entrance. Everyone attending must register at the entrance to receive their wristband designating full ticket or designated driver. Wristbands are required to be served any beverage or food at the event.
