A Corry man has been convicted of third-degree murder in the shooting death of an accused child molester. The jury also found 34-year-old Terry Sherlock guilty of five of six other charges. Sherlock was accused of killing 28-year-old Kenneth Himrod, 28, at the victim's trailer home in Union Township on Nov. 20. Himrod had been accused of molesting Sherlock's 10-year-old-son. During the trial, the defense argued that Sherlock killed Himrod in a rage, and is guilty of voluntary manslaughter. The prosecution argued that Sherlock planned to kill Himrod. Sherlock will be sentenced Jan. 15.

The Community Blood Bank became the exclusive supplier of blood and blood products to Bradford Regional Medical Center in November 1999. Since then, the CBB has helped save thousands of lives and has saved BRMC over $2 million in related blood costs. The CBB is hoping to lay in a safe blood supply before the Thanksgiving holiday. McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill has confirmed to WESB and The HERO that there was a fatal accident on Hedgehog Lane this morning. The vehicle went out of control and hit a tree, killing the driver. The person's name has not been officially released yet, pending notification of family members.

An ex-girlfriend of State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo took jurors yesterday on a detailed guided tour of his high-flying and coddled lifestyle, his rages and romantic messages, and his resolve to make others pay for his pleasures. And, at last, Egrie-Wilcox was revealed to be the source of what has become the iconic allegation in the case: the federal charge that Fumo boasted of spending "OPM," or "other people's money." An Olean man has been sentenced to two years in prison after breaking another man's nose in a convenience store parking lot in July. 22-year-old Franklin Chase punched Robert Gilbert in the face and broke his nose while two other men hit Gilbert with a baseball bat and golf club. Chase is also accused of throwing a metal pipe at Gilbert's car, denting it and smashing a side-view mirror. A Delevan man has been sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison on a rape charge. 55-year-old Leo DeLude is accused of having sex with a person who was younger than 17. The incident happened between January and February of last year in the Town of Yorkshire. A Jamestown woman has pleaded guilty to a burglary charge for stealing a safe and other items from a restaurant. 22-year-old Tricia Schrecengost broke into the Nic-L-Inn, stole a safe and some business papers, then took the safe to another location and emptied it. The burglary happened May 20. She'll be sentenced February 17.

The ACLU has accused Brookville of violating a church's beliefs by refusing to allow it to shelter homeless people. The First Apostles' Doctrine Church has allowed homeless people to stay at the parsonage for the past few years. The Rev. Jack L. Wisor said the church is following the Bible's teaching to care for the poor and homeless. The borough recently cited the church for violating zoning regulations by operating a group home. The church has appealed the citation, and the ACLU asked that it be allowed to resume sheltering the homeless, but the borough refused earlier this month. Vic Walczak, the ACLU's legal director in Pennsylvania, says it's unconscionable that Brookville forced the ministry to close with winter approaching and demand for shelter exceeding available facilities. Borough solicitor Stephen French declined comment on the suit because he hasn't seen it.

A 38-year-old Salamanca man faces assault charges following an accidental shooting while hunting in the Town of Great Valley in Cattaraugus County. 38-year-old Bradley Stahlman was charged in connection with an October 13 incident in which 24-year-old Corry O'Neal was shot in the back of the head. O'Neal was sitting in a truck near Thorp Hollow Road when the bullet hit him. He has since recovered. Stahlman is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Great Valley Town Court.

A Cyclone man was sent to McKean County Jail after allegedly taking police on a high-speed chase Saturday morning. Police say 31-year-old Nakia Scott fled from Bradford City Police officers and eventually ended up crashing his truck on West Washington Street, where it sheered off a utility pole, hit a garage and a parked car that was pushed into another vehicle. Scott and his passengers, 21-year-old Andrew Kloss of Gifford, and 21-year-old Samuel Shonts of Ormsby, were taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Scott was arraigned by District Judge Dom Cercone on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI and numerous traffic violations. His bail was set at $25,000.

A Franklinville man is dead after his brother accidentally shot him while they were hunting Sunday morning off Bloy Road. Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Deputies say Dan Lockwood accidentally shot 23-year-old Derrick Lockwood in the stomach. Lockwood was pronounced dead at Olean General Hospital. No charges have been filed.

There's been another fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Warren County. Police say 49-year-old Pamela Simpson of Sugar Grove was walking on Catlin Hill Road 4/10 of a mile south of the New York State line at about 7:30 Friday night when she was hit by a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Justin Roberts of Ashville, New York. Simpson was thrown into a ditch and died instantly. No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation. On Thursday, 43-year-old Shirley Cearfoss was walking in the southbound lane of South State Street when she was hit by a Brinks Tour & Charter bus. Police say because this is the second pedestrian fatality in two days, they are recommending that people walking along the road at night wear light-colored or reflective clothing and that they consider carrying a flashlight. They also advise people to move off the travel lanes as vehicles approach.

An Oswayo man has been charged for saying he was a victim of a crime so he wouldn't be a suspect. Police charged 22-year-old Damien Perry on Friday with theft, receiving stolen property and making false reports to law enforcement for an alleged incident that happened August 29 at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport. At that time, Perry and Dorothy Rhinehart of Port Allegany both reported that money was stolen from them while they were at work at Sweden Valley Manor. Police say their investigation revealed that Perry was not a victim.

Three more people have been arrested on drug charges in Bradford. Amanda Szelangowski and, Arnold Pond were each charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver and related offenses. Jeffrey Mackey was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The Bradford City Street Crimes Unit seized Oxycontin, Valium, a vehicle and an unspecified amount of cash during the arrests.

A Salamanca man who was convicted of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl is now considered to be a sexually violent predator and has been sentenced to ten to 20 years in a Pennsylvania state prison. David Nordlund had been found guilty of two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of indecent assault. The incidents happened in the City of Warren in November of last year.

One brother had to be taken to a hospital and the other was taken to jail after they got into bar fight Thursday night. Police say 55-year-old Norton Cole and 44-year-old Timothy Cole got into a fight at Mosch's Tavern in Coudersport. Timothy Cole suffered injuries to his face, including a severe contusion, scrapes, cuts and swelling. Norton Cole was charged with simple assault and was sent to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

An Olean man has been indicted on charges of rape and unlawful imprisonment. 21-year-old George Portlow Jr. allegedly made sexual advances toward a woman he had known for years. The victim says when she resisted, Portlow put her in a choke hold, grabbed her hair and raped her. The alleged incident happened between June 17 and 18, in Olean.
