A jury came back with a split decision in the trial of a probation officer accused of making sexual advances toward at least three women he was supervising. 38-year-old Jeffrey Collins of Kane was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault, two counts of official oppression, and one count of harassment. He was found not guilty of one count of indecent assault and count of harassment. The jury was deadlocked on another count of indecent assault. While working as a probation officer in Warren County, Collins was accused of exposing his genitals and engaging in sexual activity in front of one of the women while she was in his office. He also allegedly asked them to take photos or videos of themselves having sex in exchange for favorable consideration involving their probation. Collins’ lawyer argued that the women – quote – wanted it until it became inconvenient. Former DEP secretary Katie McGinty is headed back to Harrisburg. Governor-elect Tom Wolf has named her his chief of staff. The 51-year-old Philadelphia native was DEP secretary under Governor Ed Rendell. She's also worked for Al Gore in the Senate and in the White House for President Bill Clinton. By ANNE HOLLIDAY WESB/WBRR News Director Marilyn Horne has won Grammy Awards, has been honored by The Kennedy Center and has sung at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration. But one of the greatest thrills of her life came about a month ago. During a visit to her daughter’s home her 8-year-old grandson Henry was playing the piano so she sat down next to him and he played while she sang. “That’s really good for the grandmother’s heart, I can tell you that.,” she said prior to Sunday’s commencement exercises at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Horne was the keynote speaker, addressing Pitt-Bradford’s largest graduating class ever. She said Henry, along with his 7-year-old brother Alex and 12-year-old sister Daisy are musically inclined, and she is excited about that. Horne also talked about her own grandmother, when discussing the state of personal communication. The White House used former President Bill Clinton to offer an unpaid advisory position to Congressman Joe Sestak in hopes of persuading him to drop his Pennsylvania Senate primary challenge to Senator Arlen Specter, according to a report issued today by White House Counsel Robert Bauer. Bauer's two-page report said there was no improper conduct. The report says White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel used Clinton as a go-between with Sestak. Clinton agreed to raise the offer of a seat on a presidential advisory board or another executive board if Sestak dropped his bid, "which would avoid a divisive Senate primary," the report says. The report goes on to say “By virtue of his career in public service, including distinguished military service, Congressman Sestak was viewed to be highly qualified to hold a range of advisory positions in which he could, while holding his House seat, have additional responsibilities of considerable potential interest to him and value to the ...
