A Bradford bar has been cited for violations of the state’s liquor laws. Police say The Lighter Side on Mechanic Street did not notify the Liquor Control Board within 15 days of a change in management; allowed smoking on May 16 and June 14; didn’t have “no smoking” signs posted on those dates and on July 24; and allowed their sound system to be heard beyond their property line on June 14. Also, Warren’s Holiday Inn on Ludlow Street was cited for failing to notify the board of a management change; and sold alcoholic beverages four times in July and August after their hotel liquor license expired. Charges against both establishments will be brought before an administrative law judge. The West Side Grill of Kane has been ordered to pay a $600 fine for state liquor law violation. Despite the cold weather construction is continuing on the Holiday Inn Express at Davis and Forman streets. The hotel is expected to open in the spring.

Someone robbed the Holiday Inn Express in Findley Lake at gunpoint early this morning. Sheriff’s deputies say at just before 5:30 a man went to the front desk of the hotel, threatened the clerk with a semi-automatic pistol and demanded money. The man drove away with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a white male, age 20 to 30, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing about 180 to 190 pounds, with grayish-blue eyes and light freckles over the bridge of his nose.
