Winners of eight straight home games, the Bonnies host league-leader Temple in a nationally televised "White Out" game Wednesday at the Reilly Center. The Reilly Center will host a "White Out" night and athletics department officials encourage everyone in attendance to wear white in support of the Bonnies. The Student Government Association is also sponsoring a canned-food drive. Temple enters the game on an eight-game win streak and sits just outside the Top 25 in the most recent AP poll. St. Bonaventure is 9-1 in the Reilly Center this season, with all but one victory coming by double digits. The game features Co-Atlantic 10 Players of the Week Andrew Nicholson and Ramone Moore, as the senior tandem picked up league honors for their performances last week. Nicholson averaged 22.5 points, 16.0 rebounds and shot 19-of-30 for the week (63.3 percent) in a 1-1 week for the Bonnies. Philadelphia – "We have a crisis on our hands," warned Dr. Poune Saberi, a Philadelphia family physician, speaking at Love Park during a rally Saturday, part of the "River to River" march against fracking. She continued, "Three days ago a fracking well in Canton, Pennsylvania [Bradford County] blew out, spilling thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals over farms, fields, the private property of local families, and into a creek that flows into the Susquehanna River..." She listed some of the chemicals and flowback contaminants involved in fracking, and their impact on human health. Saberi asked, "shouldn't the EPA study of fracking impacts on drinking water -- to be released in 2014 -- precede [the onset of] this cancerous industry?" She concluded, "We must demand the government... enforce a moratorium on all Marcellus Shale hydrofracking in Pennsylvania. Otherwise the tide of gas drilling will wash us all into a river of chemical wast...

The Bonnies beat Duquesne 83-71 at the Reilly Center in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Bonnies are now 15-15. They play Temple Friday in Atlantic City. ~~~~ Senior Chris Matthews equaled a career-high with a 28 points and sophomore Andrew Nicholson turned in his third straight 20-point outing to lead St. Bonaventure to a 83-71 win over Duquesne Tuesday night in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at the Reilly Center. The win is the fifth in six games for the Bonnies, who improve to 15-15 on the season. The Brown and White’s A-10 postseason win is their first since 2002, when they also defeated Duquesne in the first round. “I’m really proud of our team especially Chris and Jonathan (Hall), because we wanted to get to Atlantic City for them and our guys did it for them,” said head coach Mark Schmidt. “We didn’t play that great on the defensive end but Andrew was terrific inside and Chris is playing really well right now from the perimeter.” For the full s...

John Chaney and Rollie Massimino have been inducted into Philadelphia's Big 5 Hall of Fame. Chaney finished his coaching career with 741 wins and led theTemple Owls to 17 NCAA tournaments, while Massimino led the eighth-seeded Villanova Wildcats to the 1985 national championship over heavy favorite Georgetown. The Big 5 is made up of St Joseph's, Villanova, La Salle, Penn and Temple. Temple, LaSalle and St. Joseph's are also in the Atlantic 10.
