A seesaw Friday night battle went the way of the Richmond Flying Squirrels who utilized nine runs over their final two offensive innings to turn a nailbiter into a 15-7 rout and even their four-game weekend series with the Curve at a win apiece at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Squirrels entered the eighth trailing 7-6, but sent ten men to the plate in the frame, getting the decisive blow on a two-out, two-run triple off the bat of top prospect Gary Brown. Daniel Mayora, Juan Perez, Eliezer Zambrano, and pitcher Brett Bochy each added an RBI in the six-run inning, as well. The Pittsburgh Pirates have called Bradford's Zach Foster up to the Altoona Curve. Foster had been with the Bradenton Marauders. The right-handed pitcher will be given a number once he joins the team in Altoona, according to the Curve's Director of Communications Mike Passanisi. Bradford’s Zach Foster made his debut with the Pirates’ Bradenton Marauders Friday. Foster pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out one. AJ Burnett, who is on a rehab assignment in Bradenton, started the game and went 4 2/3 innings giving up one run and striking out 5. The Marauders lost the game 5-1 to the St. Lucie Mets. Bradford native and Pitt-Bradford graduate Zach Foster made his debut with the Bradenton Marauders Thursday by pitching a hitless third inning. The Marauders are the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Foster was drafted by the Pirates in 2008 and was promoted to Bradenton on Thursday.

Bradford native Zach Foster is one of three members of the State College Spikes named to represent the National League in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Foster, a right-handed pitcher, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 49th round of the 2008 draft, is currently 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA in 13 relief appearances with the Spikes.
