The annual Crook Farm Country Fair is being held Saturday and Sunday at the historic Crook Farm on Seaward Avenue. 100.1 The Hero's Igor will be broadcasting live at Crook Farm from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Organizers are bringing back the popular Sunday breakfast this year. It will start at 9:30 a.m. Only 100 tickets are available. You can buy them at the Bradford Landmark Society, Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe or Ott & McHenry Pharmacy. WBRR 100.1 The Hero’s “Igor” was named an “Outstanding Radio Personality” for 2013 at the annual award ceremony of the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters in Hershey on Monday. The “Nocturnal Transmission” host, who serves as music director and imaging production director for Bradford’s WESB 1490 AM and WBRR 100.1 FM “The Hero”, also received the “Outstanding Radio Promotional Announcement” award for the creation and production of station IDs for “The Rocking Dead Weekend”, a “Walking Dead” parody that the station ran over Halloween weekend, which featured the biggest hits of dead rock stars. Operations manager Frank Williams said: “It’s no surprise that Igor brought home these great awards. His show is edgy, funny, and is, without a doubt, the best rock-focused evening programing in the area. Big Brothers Big Sisters of McKean County would like to thank the businesses and individuals who participated and donated in Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2013. Bowl For Kids’ Sake is our largest annual fundraiser that took place on March 23, 2013 at Byllye Lanes in Bradford. Funds raised will support ongoing professional match support for one on one matches between adult volunteers and youth in need of an additional positive adult role model throughout McKean County. Big Brothers Big Sisters is an evidence-based mentoring program shown to prevent substance abuse and anti-social behavior among youth. Served youth show significant improvements in school attendance, academic performance, involvement with positive school and community activities, self-esteem, interpersonal and problem solving skills, and future planning and goal setting. Representatives of employers and services will be on hand at the annual career fair at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford next week to discuss current and prospective employment and internship opportunities. The 27th annual career fair, which is sponsored by the Office of Career Services, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons. No pre-registration is required, but those attending the fair should bring copies of the resumes and dress in appropriate business attire. The event is free and open to the public. Saturday was the first-ever Tortugas Binge Bowl presented by 100.1 The HERO. Igor took on challenger Zach Ruth to see who could eat the most tacos in 15 minutes. Here, Igor gets pumped up before the contest. Igor greets a young fan. Zach gives Igor the evil eye. Zach flexes his muscles as Tortugas owner Jeremy Callinan looks on. Jeremy was a judge, too. Zach, holding his Binge Bowl trophy, gets congratulations from a fan. Yes, he beat Igor by eating 10 tacos to Igor's 7. Video to follow ... and you won't want to miss it! Inaugural UWBA/Tops Grocery Grab Jessie Skillman, Brenda Laird and Brian Abers get an introduction to the United Way of the Bradford Area “Grocery Grab” from Michelle Gangloff, manager of Tops Market. She then took them on a tour of the store and showed them areas that were off limits for the contest. Igor chats with the United Way's Mandi Wilton Davis and the contestants during his live broadcast from the event on 100.1 The HERO. Brenda takes her cart on a practice spin. Later, during the three minutes they had to fill their carts, Jessie loads up on coffee and Brian tries to maneuver his cart around a corner. Michelle rings up everything Brenda gathered while Tyler Clark and Heather Behan do the same for Jessie and Brian. The United Way's Kelly Case (with Mandi and Igor) announces the winner ... Brian Abers! Brian won a $350 Tops grocery card, $75 Tops gas card; Brenda won a $150 Tops grocery card, $25 Tops gas card; Jessie won a $75 Tops grocery card, $25 Tops gas card. And ...

"Our" ducks are back. Dan Griffin/Igor tried feeding them some bread to get them to come closer but, for some reason, they didn't want it. My theory is that they knew we had donuts inside and thought we were holding out on them.
