The Zippo/Case Museum is rolling out the red carpet for an international fleet of 24 vintage Bentley automobiles from 11:30 to 2:30 on Thursday, May 21, as the North American Vintage Bentley organization brings their tour of the Twin Tiers to Bradford. The museum will remain open to the public that day, offering not only an exploration of the two all-American brands, but also a chance to admire these rare luxury automobiles up close. The main Zippo/Case Museum parking lots off will be closed to accommodate the group that day, so visitors will be directed to utilize the museum’s overflow parking on Chestnut Street during the midday hours. The Bentley owners will receive a tour of the museum from Zippo Ambassador Linda Meabon, and are utilizing the museum’s new event services to hold a private luncheon on the museum grounds. An employee of Seneca Distribution on Chestnut Street who gave his two week notice is accused of using his last few days on the job to rack up more than $1,100 worth of purchases on a company credit card. Court records say 23-year-old Michael Miller of Ellicottville gave notice on September 29 but last showed up to work on October 3. But, he made purchases on the company credit card between October 1 and October 6. On October 6, a relative of Miller’s who works for Seneca Distribution turned in Miller’s key fob and the credit card. A company supervisor contacted Miller about the unauthorized purchases and was told that if the company didn’t pay off the credit card, Miller would report them to the department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. A massage therapist has been accused of inappropriately touching his clients. State police charged 40-year-old Daniel Lee of Ellicottville with two counts of forcible touching and two counts of sex abuse following complaints by two people, and a subsequent investigation. Lee was giving the victims a massage at the Anew Beginning Massage and Spa when the alleged abuse happened. He is scheduled to appear in Village of Ellicottville Court. A Cattaraugus County woman will spend the next two to four years in state prison after being convicted of burglary. 34-year-old Sandra Sherlock of Olean was sentenced for breaking into a Town of Allegany building on October 17 of last year with the intent to commit a crime. She also stole some property from the building. 35-year-old Scott Kelley of Ellicottville was also sentenced on a burglary charge. On January 26 in the Town of Ashford he went into a building and stole property. He got five years’ probation. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

An Allegany woman is accused of stealing from her employer. Ellicottville Police say while 53-year-old Patricia Wesley was working as a store manager for the Ellicottville Kwik Fill she stole merchandise on June 23. A Little Valley woman is accused of supplying several Salamanca residents with controlled substances. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force says the arrest of 25-year-old Amanda Calkins was the result of a transaction they saw, which led to a traffic stop in the Town of Ellicottville, where she had several hydrocodone pills. Calkins is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail on $750 cash bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

We understand that some people really need their Tim Hortons coffee, but stealing it is not the way to get your caffeine fix. New York State Police say 58-year-old John Blakeslee of Arcade stole a coffee mug and 8 K-cups from the Tim Horton’s on Route 219 in Ellicottville then left the area on foot. Police found him walking down the road with the stolen items. Blakeslee was charged with petit larceny and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicottville Court. It's official: The owner of Kabob Kafe in Ellicottville is buying The Option House. Bradford City Council approved a $50,000 loan on Tuesday that completes the funding package he needed to buy the Main Street building from Sam Sylvester. Other money is coming from the McKean County Redevelopment Office and The North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission. Owner Sheikh Iqbal is also investing $40,000 of his own money. Debbie Huston of the Office of Economic and Community Development says the outstanding job Sylvester did in renovating the building is what attracted him to The Option House. In a news release, Huston added that Sylvester is pleased that Iqbal has decided to bring his highly popular restaurant to Bradford's Main Street as "he is a widely experienced restaurateur and caterer." She adds that over the past few months Sylvester and "Icky" -- as Iqbal likes to be called -- have developed a close personal and business relationship. Sh...

A woman who forged two money orders in Ellicottville last fall will spend the next five years on probation and must pay restitution. 41-year-old Donna Liberatore of made the fake money orders on October 15. Liberatore is also facing charges in Niagara Falls where she allegedly stole customers’ credit card numbers while working at Metro Mattress and then made several thousand dollars’ worth of purchases there and at Mary Kay Cosmetics. A Salamanca man who took police on a high-speed chase last fall will spend the next two to four years in state prison. 45-year-old Richard Skye was sentenced today in Cattaraugus County Court for the incident that started on September 4 on Route 353 in Little Valley. Sheriff’s deputies tried to stop him but, instead of stopping, he led them on chase into the Town of Ellicottville, where the pursuit ended when Skye drove his vehicle up a seasonal road. He pleaded guilty last month to reckless endangerment and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A box truck hit a school bus Thursday morning on Route 242 in the Town of Ellicottville, but none of the 14 students on board was hurt. State police say the bus was at a railroad crossing when a Freightliner box truck driven by Jeffrey Coen of Franklinville didn’t stop and rear-ended the bus. Coen was trapped inside the truck and, after being freed by Ellicottville Fire Department personnel, was taken to Bertrand Chafee Hospital for treatment of leg injuries. The road was closed for about two hours for the investigation. Police charged Coen with following too closely, and say additional charges are pending a vehicle inspection. An Ohio man was sent to jail after an incident on Route 219 in Ellicottville Friday night. Sheriff’s deputies say 56-year-old Christopher Fogle of Westerville made an improper right turn, drove on the sidewalk near Valerian Way, and cut off oncoming traffic when driving back onto the road. When deputies stopped him they saw a plastic cup with an alcoholic beverage in it in the center console of the vehicle. After giving him field sobriety tests, deputies charged Fogle with aggravated driving while intoxicated, because his blood alcohol content was more than .18, percent. They also charged him with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and a number of traffic violations. His bail was set at $2,500. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

An Irving, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly pushing a sheriff’s deputy who was investigating a complaint at the Tamarack Club in Ellicottville early Sunday morning. Deputies say they got complaints about a large and noisy party in one of the rooms at the club, and other patrons were complaining. During their investigation 45-year-old Carole Thompson allegedly pushed the deputy and created a disturbance. Thompson is charged with obstruction of governmental administration. She was sent to jail in lieu of $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ellicottville Town Court. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

With Independence Day coming up on Wednesday people’s thoughts turn to fireworks and if you’re really in the mood for them now, you’re in luck. There’s a show tonight. At Ellicottville’s Summer Festival of the Arts, which started on Friday, the Buffalo Philharmonic will perform starting at 8 o’clock tonight, and that will be followed by a fireworks display to "The 1812 Overture" and "Stars and Stripes Forever." The man who took police on a chase from Olean to Turtlepoint last week has pleaded not guilty to unrelated charges. 25-year-old Paul Tyler Jr. is charged in connection to house burglaries in Portville, Olean and Ellicottville last May and June. He and another person are accused of stealing electronics, jewelry, alcohol, a TV and other items worth more than $3,000. On Thursday Tyler allegedly would not pull over for a traffic stop in Olean, rammed a police car, took officers on a chase to Turtlepoint, where he got out of his car and ran into the woods. Police did catch him and arrest him near Turtlepoint. Tyler is being held in Cattaraugus County Jail without bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Six more area seniors have accepted invitations to play in the 39th Annual Don Raabe Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic football game. They are: Mike Berardi Wellsville Central School Off: running back Def: safety Height: 5’9” Weight: 180 lbs. Mike plans to major in engineering at a school yet to be decided. Twice selected to the Olean Times Herald Big 30 Team, he was selected to New York Class C All State first team. Mike is also the Salutatorian of the Wellsville class of 2012. He is a fan of Fred Jackson and the Buffalo Bills. He wants to play in the Raabe Classic to join the club of elite people that have played in past games. Mike’s biggest thrill was being a part of winning Wellsville’s first sectional title in school history. His hobbies include gaming and bowling. A contractor working on a house in Ellicottville is hospitalized after getting an electric shock Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies say the man was standing on an aluminum sawhorse while working on an electrical box, when he was shocked. The shock sent him backward off the sawhorse and the back of his head hit the concrete floor. He was airlifted to ECMC, where there is no word on his condition.

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the driver who hit a house in Ellicottville this morning and then left the area. Deputies got a call at 4:17 a.m. reporting the incident. The house was heavily damaged, but no one was home at the time and no one was hurt. The vehicle that hit the house has not been identified and deputies are continuing their investigation.
