Joe Sweet Has Passed Away
Joseph J. Sweet, 62, of 565 Bolivar Drive passed away Friday, December 2nd, 2011, in Veterans Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a long and courageous battle with MDS, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 21, 1949, in Cuba, NY, he was a son of the late Floyd and Leatrice (Miller) Sweet. On November 21, 1970, by the Honorable District Justice, Roland H. Magee, he married Betsy G. Greene who survives. Mr. Sweet was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School. On July 19, 1967 he enlisted in the United States Army, served during Vietnam and was honorably discharged on July 17, 1970. He returned home from the service and worked for Red Rock Plugging Company, Hanley Brick, Pennzoil and then for 16 years as the Foster Township Road Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed watching his favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon, and the Miami Dolphins.
