A 23-year old woman is accused of trying to take marijuana into the Cattaraugus County Jail. Sheriff’s deputies say Julie Richardson of Friendship was found with the weed as she was going in for a visit. Richardson is charged with promoting prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Little Valley Court. A man who had been banned from the Seneca Allegany Casino is facing charges for going back in. 52-year-old Donald Pettit of Friendship had been banned back in December of 2009. He was arrested as he entered the casino last Wednesday afternoon. He is charged with trespassing and was scheduled to appear in City of Salamanca Court. A New York man who broke a Bradford man’s eye socket during an assault near the Bradford Area Public Library in August will spend 2 months to a year-and-a-half in McKean County Jail. 24-year-old Evan Fields of Friendship and Heather Powley of Hinsdale assaulted the man in the early morning hours of August 31. When police arrived on the scene, the victim was lying motionless on the ground with head injuries. The victim had to have reconstructive surgery on his eye. Fields was also ordered to pay more than $22,000 in restitution and do 200 hours of community service. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Three people were sentenced today on burglary charges in Cattaraugus County Court. 19-year-old Alexander Hope of Friendship was sentenced to six months in jail for breaking into a Portville building on June 9 and stealing more than $50,000 worth of property. 40-year-old Arturo Ross Sr. of Olean was sentenced to five years’ probation for breaking into an Olean building on August 3. 22-year-old Kyle King of Gowanda was sentenced to 5 years’ probation for breaking into a Town of Persia building on January 12, 2012, and intentionally damaging property. Three more burglars have pleaded guilty in Cattaraugus County Court. 40-year-old Arturo Ross Sr. of Olean broke into an Olean building on August 3. 19-year-old Alexander Hope of Friendship broke into a Portville building on June 9 and stole more than $50,000 worth of property. Both men will be sentenced on February 19. 31-year-old Angel Ocasio of Dunkirk broke into a Town of Dayton building on January 5. He will be sentenced on March 18.
