Actor Lew Temple sent an e-mail to Scott Douglas talking about Unstoppable and his new movie, Rango (which we've told you about a few times). He also had a message for Bradford, so we're passing it along: I am hopeful that the harsh winter is not dampening the spirits of you and fellow Bradfordians too bad. I am guiltily enjoying 70-80 degree sunny weather for the most part, as we prepare for spring, which for us in Los Angeles generally means some rain. Really lovely that we have such support for Unstoppable in the form of amazing sales. Everyone should get a copy, because as I have said all along it is the community that the movie thrives from. The day is finally here – Unstoppable is out on DVD. But that’s not the big news. Android handset owners will now be able to watch a digital copy of a Blu-ray film on their smartphones. The movie is the first with a Blu-ray Digital Copy that plays on Android, according to news release from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. As for rentals, Patrick Morrisroe of Family Video says people were lined up at the door this morning waiting to rent the movie. By Sandra Rhodes Visitor & Member Services Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau A touch of Hollywood glamour will be in Bradford, Pennsylvania, for two-night run for the opening of the new movie “Unstoppable.” The 20th Century movie, which features some scenes filmed on locations within McKean County in northcentral Pennsylvania, will open worldwide Friday, Nov. 12. Bradford will be the place to be with the movie shown on one end of Main Street and one of the actors on hand to greet guests on the other end. The movie features Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson. Inspired by actual events, the movie is an adrenaline rush fueled by director Tony Scott’s signature mark of propulsive action. It’s a story about ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances, according to information released by 20th Century Fox. A veteran train engineer and a young conductor, played by Washington and Pine, respectively, race the clock to stop an unmanned run...

The Pennsylvania Film Tax credit is still here, it's just not as big. The new budget allows $42 million for the program this year and $60 million next year. It had been $75 million. The Film Tax Credit program started in 2007 and provides a tax credit to film productions that spend 60 percent of their budget in Pennsylvania. Producers for the movie "Unstoppable" say the film tax credit was one of the deciding factors in bringing them to Pennsylvania. Many businesses in McKean, Cameron and Elk counties benefited financially while "Unstoppable" was filming in the region.

Changes have been made to the travel alert related to the filming of the movie "Unstoppable. The intersection of routes 120 and 155 at the east end of Emporium will be restricted Friday, Monday and Wednesday and will be controlled by police from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. all three days. Motorists can also expect intermittent traffic delays on Route 120 between East Allegany Avenue and Spring Street in Emporium all three days. Lanes will also be closed intermittently on the Route 120 steel bridge in the village of Cameron on Friday. Next Thursday, there will be traffic delays in Turtlepoint on Champlin Hill Road between Route 155 and Pine Grove Road. The intersection will be restricted and controlled by police from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Route 120 between East Allegany Avenue and Spring Street in Emporium will be closed. Drivers may also encounter intermittent traffic delays on Saturday and Monday along Route 155 between Pine Tree Road and Gardeau Road. The Route 120/155 intersection in Emporium will be closed Friday, September 18 from 9am to 3pm, as filming takes place for the movie "Unstoppable." Motorists should choose alternate routes around this closure. Drivers can follow PennDOT’s official detour that uses Routes 155, 120, 555 and 255 or they can choose alternate roads they prefer. Emergency response vehicles will be allowed to travel through the intersection closure. Drivers may also encounter intermittent traffic delays on Friday along Route 120 between East Allegheny Avenue and Britten Hill Road in Emporium. Closures and traffic delays will continue on area roads through October, as filming requires. PennDOT will issue travel advisories on those restrictions as necessary.

Olean and Eldred streets will be tied up on Friday as the movie "Unstoppable" films scenes from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Cameras will capture school children and their parents board a train at the Wayne Street crossing in Olean, according to James Mahathey, the film's location manager. The train will make its way from there to the crossing on Barbertown Road in Eldred. Traffic going over railroad crossings will be stopped for 10 to 15 minutes during the filming. Various police agencies will control traffic.

The effects of the filming of the movie "Unstoppable" in the region are already being felt. To accommodate some crew members, the movie's production company is footing part of the bill for renovations at the DeSoto Holiday House on South Avenue. Tarport Properties is planning to refurbish the entire facility. As for the movie, the pre-production crew has been in Bradford for several weeks spending money at a number of businesses. Star Denzel Washington and Director Tony Scott have also been staying in the area. The action movie is being filmed in Cameron County, which is also getting a much-need economic boost. This Dumpster behind the hotel caught on fire at about 4 o'clock this moring. It's holding old carpeting from the hotel, as well as other construction materials. Bradford Township firefighters were on the scene for about 2 hours.
