The former Bradford paramedic who stole drugs from the fire department has pleaded guilty in McKean County Court. 32-year-old Brandon Landuyt was taking morphine from unopened vials and refilling them with saline. He also kept morphine that was left over after giving it to patients, and doctored paperwork to cover up the thefts. He is scheduled for sentencing on February 27. The former Bradford paramedic accused of stealing drugs from the fire department’s ambulance service and altering paperwork to cover it up was scheduled to be in McKean County Court this morning for his Last Day to Plea, but that’s been moved to January 2. 32-year-old Brandon Landuyt is accused of taking morphine and fentanyl from vials in a storage locker and putting saline in the vials to make them look full. Brandon Landuyt will appear for a formal arraignment at 1 p.m. He was charged in July and fired from the fire department in August. Landuyt is free on $75,000 bail. The Bradford paramedic accused of stealing drugs from the fire department is now accused of altering paperwork to cover up some of the thefts. The criminal complaint against Brandon Landuyt has been amended to say that between March 10 and June 12 he “completed 18 Narcotic Waste Log sheets indicating he had wasted leftover (morphine and Fentanyl) when in fact he actually took the waste home for personal use.” Also, according to papers filed in District Judge Dominic Cercone’s office, on November 14 of last year and June 12 of this year he “altered the sub stock narcotic logs at the fire department and took morphine and Fentanyl.” For those allegations he is charged with 20 felony counts of acquisition or obtaining of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge. The paramedic accused of stealing drugs from the Bradford City Fire Department’s ambulance service has been fired. Bradford City Council voted last night to terminate the employment of 32-year-old Brandon Landuyt. He allegedly took morphine and fentanyl from vials in a storage locker and put saline in the vials to make them look full. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 22. Also Tuesday council: ~~ appointed Matthew Gustin probationary police officer ~~ gave the DPW permission to advertise for bids for Phase III of the 2013 resurfacing project ~~ OK'd the execution of a memorandum of understanding between the police department and the school district to provide a security officer ~~ granted free parking in the downtown business district during Festa Italiana, and approved a waiver that will allow outside drinking on Festival Way during the festival.
