Mashmellow Overcoat will be performing tonight (Friday) at The Corner Bar & Restaurant in Bradford. Mick Marshall's band Marshall Law has been added to the lineup for the Kids & Cancer Benefit Block Party Saturday on Mechanic Street. Their special guests will be members of Smokin' Section from Pittsburgh. Also at the block party, Jim Ronan will be joining the No Name Trio. The No Name Trio is performing from 3 to 7 p.m.; Marshall Law from 7 to 11 p.m. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Vapor will be performing at The Downbeat for its grand re-opening.

City police are investigating a theft from Forman Street and criminal mischief on Main Street. They also got calls about disturbances on Bushnell, Rochester, Congress and State streets, as well as Calvin Court. Officers were called to a domestic disturbance on Congress Street, and reports of harassment on South Center and disorderly conduct on Congress Street. For more news go to WESB.com . Four new houses will be built in Bradford’s Second Ward Neighborhood Revitalization Project area that could raise the tax base significantly. City council on Tuesday approved on first reading a $250,000 general obligation bond that will go toward building the homes on Elm and Congress streets. OEDC Executive Director Sara Andrews explained that loan will be repaid from the sale of the homes, the same way it was with the homes on Pearl and School streets. She says construction on the first home should start next month. Two others should start later in the summer. The fourth may not be built until next year. “It’s great to see some new construction going up in the city – that people can come in and buy a new home,” said Councilman Fred Proper. Andrews added that a study done concerning the homes on Pearl and School streets showed that the taxes collected from the new homes is 217 percent higher than the taxes collected from the old homes that were there. A Bradford man is in jail for allegedly dragging his ex-girlfriend with his pickup truck, causing serious injuries, including a collapsed lung. Court papers say early this morning 26-year-old John Vinelli III and the victim were arguing while she was standing at the open passenger side door of the truck when he drove off. The open door knocked her down dragged her for “some distance,” but Vinelli didn’t stop. She said the battery in her phone was missing after the incident, so she couldn’t call for help, so she walked from Hillside Avenue to the Hotel Holley, where she knew the bartender, and they called for help. When police went to Vinelli’s house, he let his German Shepard out, and the dog charged toward one of the police officers. The dog later bit the officer’s arm. Police say it was apparent from his speech and his staggering that Vinelli was under the influence. His bail is set at $50,000. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A Bradford man is accused of grabbing the owner of the Hotel Holley by the throat after being told he wasn’t allowed on the property. Court records say 50-year-old Mark Andress was told by owner Joseph Troutman that he wasn’t allowed on the property and, as Andress entered the main lobby he shoved Troutman and grabbed him by the throat. The incident happened last month. Andress was arraigned this morning. Andress is charged with simple assault and harassment, and is free on unsecured bail. A Bradford woman was sent to McKean County Jail following a domestic incident on Sunday. Court papers say Brenda Bottorf told them 21-year-old Brooke Bottorf hit her in the head and kicked her in the chest, causing injuries. When police tried to speak with Brooke, she walked out of the house. When other officers got there they found her inside a closet in an upstairs bedroom. Bradford Creative & Performing Arts Center (BCPAC) will introduce a new Tuesday Tribute Concert Series starting in the summer of 2016. Hotel California will open the series on June 7, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place at the Bromeley Family Theater located at the University of Pitt/Bradford. The Zippo/Case Museum is rolling out the red carpet for an international fleet of 24 vintage Bentley automobiles from 11:30 to 2:30 on Thursday, May 21, as the North American Vintage Bentley organization brings their tour of the Twin Tiers to Bradford. The museum will remain open to the public that day, offering not only an exploration of the two all-American brands, but also a chance to admire these rare luxury automobiles up close. The main Zippo/Case Museum parking lots off will be closed to accommodate the group that day, so visitors will be directed to utilize the museum’s overflow parking on Chestnut Street during the midday hours. The Bentley owners will receive a tour of the museum from Zippo Ambassador Linda Meabon, and are utilizing the museum’s new event services to hold a private luncheon on the museum grounds. The performance will take place at the Bromeley Family Theater on Friday March 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. “Marilyn: Forever Blonde” tells the actress’ story in her own words and music. About 40 young people took park in a 30-hour famine project on Friday and Saturday, and raised more than $1,700 to feed the hungry. Their service project was to clean, weed, prune and work on the beds in the Project Pride Community Garden on Bank Street. Denise Bean, Lynne Kuntz and Allison Ambrose cut the ribbon for the grand opening of Downtown Bradford's newest business, Santo Vida Natural Wellness Center. Besides a large assortment of natural and healthy products, they will be offering a 13-week weight loss program that covers nutrition, exercise "and all the things you need to know to make good choices and transform your life," Kuntz told WESB. Hundreds of people attended today's Kids' Fest at the Bradford YMCA. The event is sponsored by the Y and the McKean County Collaborative Board and is designed to give parents of young children a look at all the programs and activities in the county that are available to them.
