One of the men accused of breaking into Save-A-Lot last month waived his preliminary hearing today. 22-year-old Quinton Mills is charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief. Mills and 21-year-old Axle Tankersley are accused of breaking into the store in the early morning hours of April 7 doing $2,500 worth of damage to the building and taking $1,500 from an ATM. Mills is jailed on $10,000 bail.

Charges have been filed against two men accused of breaking into Save-A-Lot on Forman Street on April 7. 21-year-old Axle Tankersley and 22-year-old Ouinton Mills, both of Bradford, are each charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, both felonies. They are also facing misdemeanor theft and conspiracy charges. Bradford City Police Chief Chris Lucco says the photo of one of the suspects that was released to the media last week “received an enormous response, which solidified the department’s feeling that the suspect in the photo was Axle Tankersley.” Lucco says while serving a search warrant at Tankersley last known address to look for evidence of the crime, officers discovered evidence to link the residence to another recent burglary at Matthews Services Station, where tools and other miscellaneous items had been stolen. Bradford City Police have released this photo of one of the two males who broke into Save-A-Lot on Forman Street early Thursday morning. Police Chief Chris Lucco says if anyone recognizes this person, they should call the city police station at 368-6133 or McKean County Control at 887-4911. Lucco tells WESB and The HERO that two males broke glass on the doors to get into the store and, once inside, did "substantial damage" to the office area and an ATM. This is the second time the store has been burglarized in recent months. Yesterday's break-in happened on the day that owner Bill Larson received the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce 2011 Exemplary Business award.

Even a robbery at his store didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce Exemplary Business Award recipient. While accepting his award at Thursday's annual dinner and meeting, Save-A-Lot owner Bill Larson said the store was robbed last night . "It put us behind the 8 ball," he said, "but we still want to show that no matter what happens in business, we're still going to move forward. We're still going to move ahead."* Also Thursday, Mike Glesk accepted the chamber's first Director's Award on behalf of Leadership McKean. A Bradford man is in jail after being arrested for breaking into Save-a-Lot on Forman Street Friday morning. Police say they received a call at 7:37 a.m. reporting a broken window at the store. Upon arrival, Officer Todd Erickson saw a large hole in a front window and a small black stereo speaker on the floor. He then learned that the perpetrator entered through the window, broke into the office and removed several items, including groceries, personal care items, beverages, money and, possibly, gift cards. Michael Kelly of 75 Amm Street was questioned about the burglary and police learned he broke the plate glass window with a brick at around 1 a.m., then left the scene. He returned to the scene and threw the stereo speaker at the window, attempting to make the hole bigger. He left the scene again, but returned at about 2 a.m., when he broke into the office area.
